Back to College: Going Out Outfits

Although I’ve been out of college for a few years, there’s something about the end of summer that always makes me reminisce about going back to college. I can still feel all of the excitement that comes with moving into a new apartment, seeing friends you haven’t seen all summer, and the excitement that comes with the possibilities of a new year; a fresh start!

Some of my best memories from college were going out for Mexican and karaoke on Wednesday nights with friends, Thursday and Saturday nights getting ready to go out with my roommates, and of course… raiding each other’s closets! Having three other closets to pick from in college certainly made my closet feel so much bigger than it does now. As long as you weren’t wearing it that night and it didn’t still have the tags on it, it was fair game between my roommates and I!

I can still remember driving to Bangor, Maine, on Thursday afternoons after getting out of class (which was about a 15 minute drive from my college) to raid the mall for a last minute outfit for the night. Unfortunately, the mall is not the greatest, if we’re being honest, and the options are very limited (University of Mainers, do yourselves a favor and just shop online).

I think the important thing to remember about dressing to go out is that you can dress sexy, while still keeping it classy. If I show more skin on top (such as a backless body suit) I keep it more conservative on the bottom by wearing something like jeans and booties. I’m absolutely loving rompers and high neck tops lately (totally obsessed with this romper that I wore to Kenny Chensey that combines both trends). What’s better than shopping for a going out outfit?!
