If you guys follow along on Instagram, then you saw that I spent last week on Saint John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Ahhhh it was such a dream you guys! It was my 4th time and has become a bit of a tradition of a trip in my family. It’s hands down my favorite place I’ve ever traveled. There were nine of us that went this year and I honestly think it was probably my favorite trip there yet. The weather was absolutely perfect the entire trip and with the weather we’ve been having here in Boston, it was so nice to get away to warm weather for a bit! Travel diary coming soon (if you don’t want to wait I have a St. John, USVI Travel Guide from two years ago here.

There was a ton of swimming in the ocean, pools, hot tubs, etc. which is amazing, but it can also take a toll on skin and hair. If you guys are anything like me, then you’re used to coming back from vacation (and spending vacation) with hair that feels like straw. Welp! Not the case for me anymore (thank you lord). I absolutely swear by Moroccanoil’s hair products and have used them for years. A lot of salons use these products which is how I originally got hooked. Bottom line is that the products are all extremely high quality, are reasonably priced compared to a lot of other “high end” or designer hair products out there, and get the job done better than any other hair products I’ve used. Their light hair oil will absolutely change your life (if you can only justify buying one of their products it has to be this). It cuts down on my dry time, eases frizz, smoothes hair, and is overall, a miracle product for me. It basically does it all! Keep reading to find out why Moroccanoil hair products are my holy grail hair products!

This year for vacation, I really wanted to bring less with me and try to be one of those “less is more” type people. Yep, if you couldn’t guess, it backfired yet again. But… I’m happy to say that my bag weighed in at 42.5 pounds. Hey, maybe I’m not so high maintenance after all?! đŸ˜‰ I brought mini travel sized beauty products for almost all of my beauty routine this year. However, one thing I can never skimp on? Hair products! Specifically shampoo and conditioner.

If you guys know me in real life then you know my hair is extremely thick. Because of how thick it is, it can often be challenging to control. Combing out my hair after a shower has almost always been a challenge, which is where lots of conditioner comes in! I think I use the amount of conditioner in one shower that my boyfriend uses in an entire week haha!!! Because of this, I always bring extra conditioner with me when I travel. I can’t tell you guys how many times I’ve had to run to the store on a weekend away or a trip because I’ve run out. Honestly, my biggest fear haha! My hair gets very tangled without it and honestly it’s just not possible for me to go without it or to be one of those people who can use “2 in 1.” So for me, winging it and going with whatever the small amount that the hotel provides just isn’t enough!

I brought my full sized Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner with me for this trip and I’m so happy I did. It smells great, is SUPER hydrating (exactly what I needed for a warm weather getaway), and a plus is that Geoff likes it too so I was able to bring them for us to share. The smell is very unisex which means it’s perfect for both men and women. You can share and get even more of your money’s worth!

So why are these hair products better than any other average shampoo and conditioner? For me, the biggest thing I notice is when combing out my hair after a shower. I always use a comb rather than a brush because it’s more gentle when hair is wet and more fragile than when it’s dry. No more struggling after I use Moroccanoil hair products! This hydrating shampoo and this hydrating conditioner both have antioxidant-rich argan oil, replenishing vitamins, and moisturizing red algae for hair that truly feels and looks healthier. You can use them both every time you wash your hair.

I also brought a little pack of Moroccanoil’s Intense Hydrating Mask with me that I found in Sephora’s travel size section at the checkout area. I couldn’t find the smallest size online, however, they do have a small one here. If you’re able to find the packet in your local Sephora, get it! It actually contains a ton of product and I was able to get two deep conditions out of it. If your hair isn’t as thick as mine, you could probably get three or four out of it! I used the deep conditioner twice while I was on vacation and it made such a difference. If you’ve never tried one before, you essentially use it the same way you would use a conditioner. The only difference is that I leave it on a bit longer.

Since we were in the pool and ocean all day, every day, I shampooed my hair every single day. I don’t normally shampoo my hair that often, but I felt the need to get all of the gunk out of my hair before dinner each night. This hair mask was a life saver in making sure that I wasn’t stripping my hair since I was shampooing it every night.

After getting out of the shower, I always, always, always follow up with Moroccanoil’s Light Hair Oil. I will forever swear by this product. To describe this product in one word, it makes your hair manageable. If your hair is temperamental, hard to manage, thick, frizzy, feels straw-like, takes forever to dry, etc. this hair oil is a must! Like I said at the beginning of this most, it majorly cuts down on my dry time (I hate blow drying my hair more than anything on this planet). It also smooths my hair, makes it feel stronger, and reduces frizz. I put a small drop on damp hair starting at my ends and working up. I also sometimes work it through my ends after curling my hair if it feels frizzy or if I look like I have really bad split ends/bad ends. I always use the light option which gives me more than enough hydration. I have tried the regular hair oil years ago and feel that it’s a bit too heavy for my hair. Unless your hair is very coarse, I would recommend going with the light option found here. Have a hair question or a hair tip?! Don’t hesitate to reach out in the comments! đŸ™‚
