LIFE UPDATE – we moved to PORTLAND, MAINE! 🥳🦞 3 days before our wedding (yes, we’re insane and I do NOT recommend this 🤣), we hired movers who moved almost everything out of our Boston apartment and up to Maine.
Life Update – Surprise, We Moved!
After our recent wedding and honeymoon, we’ve been spending our time between both cities, getting ourselves situated in our new apartment and cleaning out our Boston apartment before our lease ends on 8/31. We kept the move to ourselves mostly because we had such a hard time finding an apartment. Apparently everyone and their mother is moving to Portland right now! And I can see why – we absolutely love it here and the food scene is so good.
Which brings me to maybe the craziest thing we’ve ever done. We actually didn’t get to see our new apartment in person until the day we moved in! 🤯 We were able to see photos, but I still think it’s wild. I never, ever thought I would agree to signing a lease for a place I had never seen in person, but here we are. There were many months and weeks that we doubted whether or not we would actually be able to pull off this move. I would stalk Craigslist multiple times a day. But somehow we found a place and it’s perfect for us. 🥳
For a little background, as many of you know, I was born and raised in Midcoast Maine and Geoff has grown to love Maine over the last 8 years or so through his architecture projects in Maine and spending time here with myself and my family. 🌲 During the pandemic, we spent most of the hours of our days in our 1 bedroom, 600 square foot apartment in Boston.
We quickly realized that not only were we craving more living space, but we were also craving wide open spaces. We love being around nature, the beach, and realized that we were starting to enjoy a slower pace of life…. And things like being able to drive places without fighting for parking for hours, getting in-unit laundry, and the little conveniences that come with living in a smaller city. For me, this is where I feel that I thrive, am happiest, and where I feel like my truest self. I’m so excited to bring you all along with us as we get cozy in Maine! 🌲🦞
Boston treated us so well for about a decade. We truly have loved living there. It’s where we first met in person, where we fell in love, where we moved in together, and where we grew our relationship together. It will always be special to us, and I’m sure we’ll visit often. So, it’s not goodbye Boston, it’s see ya latah! (see what I did there 😉).
