3 New England Vacation Rentals on My Dream Winter Bucket List

There’s not much I love more than exploring all of the nooks and crannies of New England. There are so many amazing places and sometimes I get sad thinking about how there will never be enough time to explore them all. New England is known for being amazing during the summer months – and therefore, tends to be more crowded with tourists trying to get their hands on the views and the best lobster roll in New England (you can read about some of my favorites here).  There are so many amazing hotels in New England as well as New England vacation rentals. Curious if you guys use Airbnb or VRBO? I’ve had great luck with it on many trips!

Want to know something lesser known? New England is truly amazing all year long – that is, if you’re willing to bundle up and brave the cold! The winter months are less crowded, but on the plus side, you can go skiing or snowboarding, enjoy things like fireplaces and hot tubs, and there’s a lot less people around. And you can still enjoy the lobster! I love looking up vacation rentals in my free time (call me crazy), so I wanted to round up 3 New England Vacation Rentals on My Winter Bucket List. I might do a part two and three because there are so many amazing properties if you’re willing to hunt!

3 New England Vacation Rentals on My Dream Winter Bucket List

Here’s a round up of 3 New England Vacation Rentals on my Dream Winter Bucket List!

Modern Escape on Squam Lake, New Hampshire – $$$

This property is my actual obsession. I actually kind of hate that I’m even sharing because I don’t want it to blow up, but I also want to share the love with you guys 😂 . Do you see my dilemma?! Make no mistake, it’s pricy, but wow, it’s insanely beautiful. Ever since I started dating Geoff, who’s an architect, I now have a finer appreciation for minimalist architecture. This property is 3,000 feet, has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 9 beds, and can sleep 10. It’s located on Squam Lake in New Hampshire and is nestled amongst the trees. It boasts a beautiful deck as well as a fireplace and a hot tub. I mean, what more could you want?!

It’s won numerous awards and has been featured in Dwell and Boston Magazine. If you enjoy architecture, I highly recommend following Dwell Magazine on Instagram. I love their posts!

I can’t even imagine just how beautiful this property would be during the snowy months. I get more excited than I want to admit about the thought of sitting inside in the living room next to the fireplace and looking out the beautiful floor to ceiling windows at the snow slowly falling.

While it’s pricy (there’s also a 3 night minimum as of right now), if you split between 10 people for a long weekend, it ends up being $529 per person – or $1,059 per couple. Definitely still a splurge, but I’ll just be over here trying to get 9 friends to stay there with me. Or hoping to win the lottery so I can stay there for a month 😂 . As of right now they have two weeks in January still available if you’re in the mood for a luxury winter getaway!

Midcoast Maine Escape With Ocean Views in Tenants Harbor, Maine – $$

If you’re looking for a winter escape to Midcoast Maine (where I’m from!), this property is perfection. It’s located in Tenants Harbor with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and 4 beds. The property sleeps 6 and not only has a hot tub, but also its own private dock. The views, ocean views might I add, are out of this world. Upon staying here you’d be able to enjoy seeing lobster boats coming and going all year round, and in the summer months, people sailing for leisure.

In addition to the amazing views, the hot tub, and private dock (as if that’s not enough!), there’s also a wood stove, 3 types of coffee machines including an espresso machine (a property after my own heart), two kayaks, and a private beach. If you guys haven’t yet experienced Midcoast Maine, you have to! And this property seems like a true gem. There’s tons to do in the area.

I’m actually dying to stay here so this is another one that it almost hurts me to share because I don’t want it to fully book up on me. 😜 This property would truly be perfect for any time of year and has tons of availability. It does have a 7 night minimum as an FYI! Not uncommon for the area.

Luxury Chalet With Arcade in Bethel, Maine – $$$

One thing I’m super happy about is now that we’re back in Maine, we’re so much closer to ski and snowboard mountains. This luxury chalet is located near Sunday River in Bethel, Maine and is such a quintessential “ski house.” It’s only a 10 minute drive from Sunday River and has a hot tub, fireplace, as well as an arcade where you can play games like Pacman, Pinball, and Foosball.

In addition, the house has a whole-house Sonos system (truly a game changer, we love ours!) and a large mud room to keep all of your snowboard and ski equipment. The chalet has 4 bedrooms with 8 beds and 3 baths; fitting 12 guests. There’s also an outdoor fire pit and the home is log-sided. I love the modern log cabin look for a cozy weekend at a ski mountain. There’s nothing better! This chalet still has a bunch of mid-week openings this January and February.

Do you have any trips in the near future? I don’t but I’m really hoping for a ski trip in the next couple months!
